Welcome!

Originally from Cullman, AL, USA. Brook, now a resident of Birmingham, Alabama, is a self-taught artist who has been creating for 20+ years and primarily creates Acrylic Abstract Art on Canvas.

Inspired by Outsider and Intuitive Art Movements, Brook loves the idea of the healing power of creating and exploring the subconscious mind in order to connect with self and the world as a whole. In this way, art offers complete freedom. One can experiment as well as learn from the guidance of the masters who came before. Intuitive art is a skill developed by shining a light on inner self as well as the creative process. It is done not for those who don’t get it, but for those who do, but mostly because once light has been shown on blind spots and Truths, you can’t not do it.

As well as painting, Brook loves to teach and make custom pieces for clients and community. She has had the privilege leading classes for school children, adults with mental illness, teenage girls without families, fellow artists, and classes of friends in home parties all around Birmingham.

As an artist, one of my favorite things to do is invite the viewer into the painting — to really explore, meditate, and find worlds within. I’ve heard it said that art can either be beautiful or true, but my goal is to achieve both. From a distance, I want the painting to be beautiful and interesting. I’d also like each piece to beckon the viewer closer to see what’s within, to experience the texture, marks, and perhaps find hidden images or scenes they can make with their imagination as one would with the clouds.   I like to think someone would want to spend as much time viewing each painting as I did creating and to use the time meditatively not only pondering what could have been going on in my inner world during that time, but to also reflect on what’s going on in the viewer’s world. What inspires me is ever evolving like life. Of course I love florals, landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, but it’s the experimentation and process of art that I not only love, but very much appreciate because that process has changed my life.

Thank you for your interest in my creative work! I try to post most often on social media, so be sure to visit me on Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok for most recent news.

Xoxo,
